What Does Great FreeWriting Look Like
Today we are going to look at great free writing and how it can make us a stronger writer:
Qualities
of Good Freewriting

The writer keeps writing freely, letting any
thoughts come out.

The writer seems to try to make ideas that get
better and better as she writes longer.

The writer sometimes compares things to make you
get what she means.
·
The writer doesn’t cross stuff out.

The writer sometimes says the big idea over and
over and over again (in different ways) as if trying to get it right.

Who is Harris Burdick?
Look at the pictures on the link below. Look at the pictures click on the pictures and think about what you see. Try not to read stories that other people have read...reading stories by others before you brainstorm tends to suck all of the creativity and imagination out of us!
Once you are done choose one to write questions about ( Just like we did yesterday!) Once you have your questions written start making up answers that you think would make the story make sense.

Words in Motion
Today we started experimenting with some creative poetry. Students looked at the sites below and found poetry that they found interesting. In the comments you can read about the poems the enjoyed and why they thought they were worth reading.
Ex: Kiddos, this is one of my favorite poems. I read it in one of my best friends weddings and every time I hear it it makes me think of the way that we care about the important people in our life. For this reason this poem has special meaning to me.
