Here We Go Again: Should Kids Have Phones?
This is an issue that we are hearing about all the time. Should kids as young as 6 be allowed to have cell phones. There are many arguments for both sides and we are going to break the issue apart in our own way. Students will be doing some research and posting comments about their reasoning behind allowing kids to have personal cell phones! Check back for comments!

ReplyDeleteI think that kids should have phones because if you can't get out of something we can get a hold of your mom/dad.
If your kids stay home by themself than thay can get a hold of you that way too.
lastly, I think we need to have phones for kids because if they got in trouble thay can call you.

ReplyDeleteit will be a good idea to geve your son a phone. so if someone back's in the home. your son can call or text youe mom or dad. it can be safe for a kid can have a phone.
to call our parnts.
in the morning youcan call your mom and dad and tell them im going to shcool.
if a stager brack in and rob's your home.
you can text you'r dad or mom and tall them so they can pick you up and save you.
i got a phone and i was playing and i left it on a green box. and i for got it when i was going to my dads. then i remembered it!!! :)
Here are some reasons that kids should have cell phones. First personally I think kids should have cell phones when they turn 10 because when they get to be double digits they have so much more responsibility and having a cell phone can teach them responsibility which I will tell you about later in the presentation.

Your child being kidnapped without a cell phone or paying money to keep it on so they can call the police or call you!!!!! It’s your choice!!!!! Next
a cell phone can teach you responsibility say you leave it at a restaurant and you can’t find it when your dad drives up in the car on the plaza and you ask nicely and say dad can you go back in CALIFORNIA PIZZA KICHTEN to go to the table that we were sitting at and help me find my phone, and your dad says I will help you but next time you leave it at any place I won’t help you find it and you will have to go in and ask if they found a cell phone on table 12.
Here is another reason. Say that your home alone and you here this crackling sound in the hallway and you walk out of your room and there is a fire so you can’t reach the phone in your MOM and DADS room and if you don’t have a cell phone you won’t be able to call or go anywhere, but if you do have a cell phone you would be able to call 911 and your MOM and DAD, BAM I JUST GOT YOU WITH ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!!!!
Also you might be thinking they won’t get any exercise well you will okay now who in their right mind would sit on the couch all day texting and calling on their phone now that’s just dumb I mean texting is not fun at all and most cell phones are so thin you can take them anywhere and still be active!!!!!!!

Most cell phones are thin to fit in a pocket so they can be on the go. Like when your doing basketball and you dont know the correct hite of the hoop your age you can look it up on your cell phone and find the correct hite.

ReplyDeleteReason: Kids everywere stay home bt there selves while there parents are at work. They will need a cell phone incase of an emergency.
Evidence: Nowadays there are more people who brake into houses and steal things, if that happens or there is a fire your kids will need a way to contact you.
2. Reason: If your child walks home from school by there selves and and they hurt themselves you would not now and that would not be good.
Evidence: Sometimes cars go fast in neidorhoods and turn a corner, they are still going fast and cant slow down anough to stop from hitting your kid.
3.Reason: When kids have homework to do and they get stuck they can email there teacher or call a friend for help.
Evidence: More kids like doing thee homework by there selves than with a partner and they get stuck they can call a frien and ask for help.
And so a cell phone will help with homework, help with a problem when your kid is staying home by thereselves, and help wit there homework you should definatly getyour kid a cell phone.
Reasons why a kids should have a cellphone.
ReplyDeleteOnereason why kids should have a cellphone is because they can track their parents.Some cellphones are designed for kids so that they can control things that are parent-approved.
Another reason is because your parents should start believing in there kids.Some people say that having a cellphone helps teach kids to be responsible.
Last is because alot of kids have cellphones.56%of the chlideren 8 to 12 have cellphones.Even 6 to 10 already have one.
So having your parents believe in you, having alot of kids have phones, and calling your parents.That is why I think that kids should have a phone.

ReplyDeleteKids should have cell phones because, if home a lone and a stranger breaks in kids could call 911 or text mom or dad. If a emergency kids could call the police or parents to come help.
If kids are sad or down they can call family members so they can keep in touch. When kids are feeling sad or they can call freinds to help cheer them up even whith familys that are far away.
If kids are in a fire thy can call there parents to tell hat going on and come quick. If there is a fire or smoke in the air in your school kids can call there parents and tellthem to come now or the police.
So that is why i think kids should have cell phones if there is a emergency they can call,if there is a fire the kids can call the police,and lastly when they are felling down they can call famly or freinds to help.

Someone can text them and say good luck.Evidence like if they were about to play in a baseball game.
If there parents are on vacation and something happened.Evidence someone got shot in there neighborhood and they need to tell there parents if there not home so they can be safe.

One of the reasons that kid need cell phones for safety reasons .Like when someone is fallowing them.
Like in our location we have had 2 stolen children.
If your mom and dad broke up you would want to get in touch with them. Like if your mom was in Mo and your dad was in another state you would want to get in touch with hem right? I would. You can if you have a phone be text, call, or face time.
When you are not at school you could do it one your phone .My friend in my class did her homework on her phone.
So if you want to get your kid a phone just remember these if you want to back down your kid needs a cell phone for safety reasons , to do homework on it , and to get in touch with family of friends

ReplyDeleteCell phones are,harmfull?!?! Because cell phones give off energey waves,witch are harmfull...to kid?!
You don't interact with outher people!!Because, you know you can text back an forth and back an forth but you axualy are NOT interacting with other people and you are not being Social!!
You can share with sisters and brother! Because Me and My sisters have to share the phone and we LIKE it we share the phone and don't complain!! So be happy if you have your own phone. Because it is better than nothing...right!?
I think kid should NOT have their own phone because 1.they are HARMFULL 2.No interaction and 3.you can SHARE with family so I think you should have a house phone.
I think kids 8 threw adults need phones for texting,calling,and for emergency calls.I think little kids 1 threw 7 don't need sell phones sell phones becuase they will pute them in there mouth,bang them,and break them.I also think no because some one will find out about the phone then steal the phone then will show somone else the phone then the person that stolled the phone wil get into trouble then w'ell spend 40 days in the recvery room or might be saspended then will have to go to a nother school.that is why I think kids should and shouledn't have sell phones.

ReplyDeleteDuring an emergency, a kid can call 911. There have been some attempted kidnaps in our school district. A phone would be handy in a situation like that.
Parents can set a certain amount of time for being on their phone. Or they can only let kids have their phone when their alone somewhere.
However, I think kids should wait until they're 10, 11, or 12. Lately, kids have been more responsible with laptops and tablets.
So, because of contacts in case of emergency, limits and drawing lines, and early responsibility, I think kids should have cell phones.

ReplyDeleteKids should have cell phones because kids might get lost you can contact a parent. If you get lost in the park someone can find you.
Also if you get stuffed in a bag and throne in a basment you can call 911 and your prents. You might be taking a stroll at the park someone can find you and steal you.
Last if you are home alone and a fire starts you can call 911 and they can help you. If a pot of chili was left on the stove it would start a fire the alarms would go off and a fire would start.

ReplyDeleteReason 2: I think kids should have cell phones becuse some kids are home alone. Proof, Have you watched the movie Home Alone. In Home Alone a kid gets left at ho and thies strangers are trying to mess with him.
Reason 3: Kids should have cell phones becuse if they are not at home on the computer they can do thire home work on thire cell phones.

ReplyDeleteI have experents what it's like to lose your phone at windeys ands it's not very pesent.I all most lost my phone agin by my mom.It's alot better learning responsibility on a phone then crashing a bran new car.
And besides kids can use there sellphones for many safedy resoons. And regalor every day resons,like if they for got ther lnnch at home

I think kids should have a cellphone.But some parents don't like there kids to have a phone because they think that there kids will just keep them self's from going outside and playing. But also having a cellphone is a good thing because a phone is a good resource to use to do your homework and ask friends questions about the homework.
ReplyDeleteAlso I think the parents should help you use the phone because the parents could show you what you need to do when something important pop's up you will now what to do when it comes up.But if you didn't listen to what your mom or dad said so then when something does happen they want now what to do and so they will start touching random things and then they could of messed up the phone because it could have been a virus and they wouldn't have known that.
Also phones are very expensive so its hard on the parents. But what if the kids payed then the parents are not having to spend there money and pay more bills.
What if the kids pay there self's then I think kids should be able to use a phone but have you parents show you how to use it.That's why i learned my lesson to be more careful what i do with it.

ReplyDeletePhones take alot of responsebility. Would you give your kid a car? No of corse not! So in a way a car is like a phone. They both take alot of responsibility.
Some kids are responsible most need something smaller
like a MP3 player or anything else. Alot of kids leave there phones at the store,resteront,or park.
If they are younger they have a better chance of doing this.
Younger kids might get in to something inappropriate. Older kids know what to do and what not to do.So you wont have to monitor them

They should be older to have a phone because there more resposible,wont forget it somewhere, and will know what to do and what not to do.

ReplyDeleteAlso theirs less arguments.Lets say that my friends asks for my dad's phone and i need it to...a argument happens but if i get a phone we don't need to share.
My final reason is it can help with talking with a friend when lonely.When i get home i'm always alone if i had a cell phone i could,call to see if my my friend could come or play it works like eye jot.
Because you can use it for safety peace maker and lonesome breaker kids should have phones.
